So many sports, so little time!

Every 4 years, the Olympics comes along. This time, however it was 5 due to the pandemic. I am thankful that we still have cable along with decent wifi and can watch such a wide variety of sports! I have had tears nearly every session I’ve watched so far. As an athlete, no matter the level, I have so much respect for their hard work, dedication and reaching for their dreams! Amazing! And oh so inspiring!

It also gave me a chance to pull out my recently unearthed book from my Bemidji State University-Sports Management degree days. It’s titled: Sports and Recreational Activities. The book is dated but helped answer some questions on sports we just don’t see often. It also helped where google couldn’t “what is a the sport that can use a racquetball court without a racket”? My husband and I remembered gloves and using the walls but were still stumped. We “thought” it was handball but watching the Olympics Team Handball, we just couldn’t say for sure. Thanks to the saved text book., we confirmed the answer! Individual Handball it is!

So, as we continue to watch, catch naps in between the “live” opportunities and marvel at all the sports we get to see, I’ll keep my reference guide close, just in case (although it also covers things like “mountaineering” and that isn’t an Olympic sport….yet). Go Team USA, go! -Kim
